AMF is synonymous with bowling centers, and there’s a reason for that since it is the biggest bowling operator on the planet, and AMF bowling prices are affordable. The AMF brand started out with the American Machine and Foundry Company but the brand is now used by the Electra Private Equity in the UK, Ardent Leisure in Australia and Bowlmor in Mexico and the US.

Company History
AMF got into the bowling business after World War II, though prior to the 1970s the company was called American Machine and Foundry. After changing its name to AMF the company experienced growth as bowling centers and equipment became popular.
The AMF brand is used today for 10 pin bowling centers, automatic scoring equipment, pinsetters and other bowling paraphernalia. In the 1985, Minstar Inc bought AMF. It was during this time the company started to market bowling leagues and made the game more appealing to casual bowlers.
In 1995, AMF bought Fair Lanes Bowling, increasing its bowling centers to 205 in the US and 79 in other countries. AMF filed for bankruptcy twice, in 2001 and 2012, but was able to come out of it stronger. In 2013, AMF merged with Strike Holdings and combined with Bowlmor Lanes to produce Bowlmor AMF.
Bowlmor AMF is the biggest bowling operator in the United States with over 250 bowling centers. AMF Australia has more than 40 bowling centers while its operations in the UK continue to expand.
